The Malta Transport Authority is a Board that is appointed by the Minister for Transport & Communications consisting of a Chairman, a Deputy Chairman and three Members.

In carrying out its functions under this Act, the Authority shall ensure that its policies and activities conform with the aims and objectives of national economic planning from time to time in force and shall give due consideration to the impact of transport on the environment.

The executive conduct of the Authority, its administration and organisation and the administrative control of its officers and employees are the responsibility of the Executive of the Malta Transport Authority. The Executive is headed by the Chief Executive Officer who is directly supported by a Deputy Chief Executive Officer.
